According to CEA market research, household penetration of home theater systems rose to 32 percent in January 2009, up from the year ago 28 percent and January 2005’s 24 percent. During past recessions, consumers turned inward, looking to their homes for entertainment as they reduced their discretionary spending on entertainment outside the home.
