New U.S. Customs Regulations for Ocean Freight Shipped to the U.S. in Place for 2010 International CES Shipments
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has introduced the Import Security Filing (ISF) Rule to identify ocean cargo that may pose a security threat before it is loaded on board a vessel bound for the USA. The new regulation requires that specific information about the cargo be filed with U.S. Customs (CBP) in advance of the goods being shipped. This rule is more commonly referred to as the 10+2 Rule because the importer must provide 10 pieces of information along with two additional items supplied by the shipping line. This policy was introduced on January 26, 2009, with a full implementation to take effect on January 26, 2010. While the CBP has established a 12 month flexible enforcement period, failure to follow the new rule or demonstrate a good faith effort to comply could result in fines of up to $5,000 per violation and delays in shipment. For more detailed information on this new policy:- Download an Importing Regulations document

CES has an online tool for exhibitors to register their EACs, and for EACs to manage their requirements for CES. Any EAC that needs access to the CES show floor must upload their current information into this tool.
Exhibitors: Use the online tool to authorize your EAC as working on your booth at CES. Please follow up with your EAC to ensure that they are meeting their requirements as well.
EACs: Use the online registration tool to register your company as an official EAC at CES. This tool helps you to manage your required information, submit your EAC Agreement and Certificate of Insurance, and track updates to your client listing.
